Hanzou comes even later and, while a great character, does not have the same impact as Musashi. Musashi is one of the few that is stronger, and he does come in like a wrecking ball, but he missed most of the game. My Guntz sometimes struggles in his first mission climbing ladders in Urbanatol, but after that, he is consistently one of my strongest characters all the way through the second half of the game. Speaking of 6-3, the terrain is a big part of why I put Guntz so high. Bleu (and the other low tier flyers) are least useful in 6-3, albeit after ages of babying. I have never bothered with making Adam good, and if Bleu wasn't worth it, a ground unit that shows up even later certainly isn't. I've played with a super high end Bleu and Arthur before, but it was not worth the tedium it took to get there. If the game were harder, I might put more emphasis on late bloomers, but I am mostly looking at efficiency.Īs for my definitions, top tier means the absolute biggest ass kickers, high tier means characters that are a great fit for any run and almost have to be deliberately ignored, mid tiers are usable but skippable, bottom tier are mostly worthless except as filler, and crap tier are truly useless. I am assuming promoting at 10 (because otherwise is too tedious) and a only a reasonable amount of babying/egressing. Conversely, people like Ken get a huge boost for having high HP at just the right time to tank Freeze 3 from the Marionette. Criteria is total usefulness in the game characters who show up extremely late or past certain key, difficult battles get a penalty. Just for the hell of it, I thought I'd throw up my own tier list. r/tbs/ - Subreddit for general turn-based strategy games. r/StrategyRpg - Subreddit for the genre most Shining Force games are in.
